Home Planet/Place of Birth: Lykos-A small planet on the fringes of the Astra system, not technically part of it. Lykos is known for its magnificent landscapes and for its trainers of Senshi. In the old days, Senshi from all across the galaxy would come to learn, however in time, Lykos began to fade into obscurity. Now it’s a somewhat desolate world, that rarely gets travel from other planets. Until recently it did have a large number of Senshi, one for the planet and one from each of it’s five moons, however it now has no guardians.

Current Residence: Tokyo

Pet: He used to have a nephew, then he ran away…
Now Niko has a ferocious black wolf who tries to eat everything that gets close. He calls her Pumpkin.

Appearance:

How does one begin to describe Niko without insulting him? One doesn’t. So we begin. Niko is tall, but slightly bent with age. His hair was auburn once, but has mostly turned white. He needs glasses to see, but usually doesn’t bother to wear them. His eyes are green, still sharp, except for distances. He dresses eccentrically, one day in plum and navy wizardingish robes, the next in a black ninja suit, and the next a dapper suit. He carries a black cane with a silver head shaped like a wolf at the top. It has weights in it and he frequently uses it to whack people over the head.

Characteristics:

Niko has been around for a very long time and has lots of time to decide what kind of personality he’ll stick with. His favorite persona to use it that of a grouchy old man and in reality that’s what he is. He has a short temper, is prickly, and very irritable. He thinks he knows best and no one should dare tell him otherwise, he’s old, he’s wise, and he knows what’s what dammit! He’s very proud and bull headed, which leads him into trouble occasionally. He doesn’t do moderate, everything goes into extremes, love, hate, goals, he goes all the way.

Niko was always very good at what he did and always worked very hard, but he’s always a little bit afraid he’ll fail. His failure in the past has reinforced that. Since the loss of the Senshi of Lykos, he’s been very lonely, but he would never show it. He pretends not to care and hides behind a mask of grumpiness.

He takes full advantage of being old to get what he wants, seats, deferment, that kind of thing. If you ask him questions, listen to his answer, then follow his advice, he’ll like you, but he might not show it. He treats people he likes with the same gruffness, he just hits them with his cane a little bit less.

He doesn’t like to open up to anyone, because he doesn’t want to be hurt if something happens to them. Niko hates to fail and the fact that he did continually tortures him. He swore off training anyone and decided that he was going to stay to himself, unfortunately he’s nosy and can’t help but poke his long nose into every conversation he comes across the offer advice and random sayings.

History:


History
Niko was born into a prestigious family, one that trained the Senshi of Lykos and its five moons. As a child, Niko was put through intense training himself and when he was fourteen, his Star Seed awakened, giving him powers to aid in training the Senshi. He became his father’s apprentice and helped train Sailor Lykos as well as the other five.

When he was twenty, his father retired and Niko took over. Around then, the Star Seed of Lykos passed to a seventeen year old girl, Amandla who entered her training stage. Niko found her and began to train her, along with the other five who ranged in age from twelve to thirty.

Amandla and Niko grew close and eventually fell in love. When he was twenty-three and she officially became Lykos, they got married. A few years later they had a daughter who they named Melody.

For years they were happy. Niko trained the Senshi, even a few visitors from other planets, including Sailor Cassiel from the Astra system. Amandla and the others protected the planet and took care of Melody. When Melody turned thirteen, her Star Seed awakened and she became the guardian of one of the moons.

Then tragedy struck. Chaos found out about Lykos’ legacy and set a trap. Through the king of the planet whom she corrupted, she lured Senshi to visit and then attacked them together. Niko was in the palace at the time and barely survived an assassination attempt on his life. He knew something horrible was happening though and he ran to find his wife, daughter, and students.

Chaos and the Senshi had turned the court yard into a battlefield. Three of his students lay dead, Amandla, Melody, and the youngest, ten year old Alexia, were still fighting. As Niko struggled to reach them he watched Chaos kill Amandla and Alexia, then swoop of Melody’s prone body and disappear. Alexia was already dead, but he held Amandla while she died.

Niko immediately left Lykos and began to search the galaxy for Melody. He couldn’t stand to stay there anymore, with all his hopes and dreams shattered and his family destroyed. He followed Chaos’ trail of destruction from planet to planet, always just a little too late.
Finally, after twenty years of searching, he went back to Lykos, bitter and unhappy. The old king was still alive and Niko joined an uprising against him. Despite his failure, he was still their hero, the only thing left of the old days of their glory. Niko was able to lead the people to victory and was even offered the throne himself, but he refused. He didn’t want power, he didn’t want responsibility, he didn’t want to fail again.

The Star Seeds of Lykos never chose new Senshi and the planet and moons remained without guardians. Niko continued living, never doing anything, living out his life in a kind of daze. He had nothing to do, no goals, nothing and no one to live for.

He passed years and years like that, until one day a shockwave passed through Lykos, telling the story of the Chibi Senshi and their fight against Chaos. He saw his old enemy destroyed and something came to life in him again. There were more Senshi out there and there were more enemies.

Finally he had something to do and without a word to anyone, he took out his old henshin item and with his dog in tow, began to travel to Earth. He landed in Tokyo, found a house, and chose a Japanese last name for himself, adding D’ because it made him sound heroic.

Now he’s off, looking for new Senshi to observe (but telling himself he's not going to train them) and determined not to make the same mistake as before…

Uniform:
Niko’s “uniform” is fairly basic. He wears a black shirt and pants with black boots. Over the shirt he wears a protective leather vest with a howling wolf’s head on the front, the symbol of Lykos. Over it all he wears a pair of navy robes.

Weapons His cane morphs into a staff. It’s as tall as he is, made of black shiny wood. The top is gnarled with a sapphire inside the wood.

Attacks:

Training Exercise, Go: Niko is able to aid training in various ways including creating temporary dummies, targets, dopplegangers for them to fight, and even whole illusionary worlds for his Senshi to train in. Only used for training.

Formerly, Niko only used this attack, but after the battle, he was able to take on a more offensive role.

Zap: Niko slams his staff into the ground and blue and gold energy pellets race at his enemy, they zip around in random shapes, shooting off sparks and spiraling around. Those who avoid them look like they’re dancing, hence the name. A move used in offensive attacks as well as training.

Age and Treachery!: Niko hobbles around as if injured and when the enemy lets their guard down yells the attack name. Energy chains explode from his staff to try to restrain, trip, and strangle whoever he happens to be aiming at, they can also be used to whack annoying people over the head. Pumpkin often attacks with the chains.

(Formerly)Lykos Revenge: Unlike other trainers, Niko was able to use an attack in concert with Amandla after their marriage. Together they would summon a large amount of energy shaped like a wolf and attack. It was virtually unbeatable when they used it together, however without Amandla, Niko can no longer use the attack.
